Whether you need a new portrait for your family or an updated headshot for Linkedin, modeling, acting, social media or any other purpose, I got you. As a professional outdoor portrait photographer in San Diego, I want to ensure you, my clients, that your photos are my top priority. So I am here to work with you every step of the way to make sure that we find the ideal location for your session, the right wardrobe, and a date & time that works for you. Because in the end, it is all about you. I am just here to guide you along the way to finding your inner beauty and bringing it out in some amazing photos.

My daytime portrait package provides my clients with an option for beautiful daytime pictures that capture the natural essence of one’s own beauty and wonder. That package starts at $150.00 an hour and would be ideal if you are looking for a portrait of you getting bathed in natural light. Also, three photos are included in this package per every hour of service. Additional photos can be purchased at a cost of $30.00 per photo and can take about two-three weeks to get the final product back. Traveling cost is also not calculated into the hourly rate, that is an additional $50.00 for every 60 miles traveled outside San Diego County. Also, I do travel to Los Angeles, Orange County, Imperial County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County for photography. So if you are looking for a portrait of yourself which brings out your inner beauty in natural light, then reach out so we can create art together.

Also do not be scared, I know there are a lot or details that go into getting your perfect portrait taken, such as location, time, wardrobe, makeup, and hair. So let me try to address some of these concerns for you so your decision is much easier to make.

Location and Time
I was born in San Diego and raised in the Greater San Diego area. So I know quite a few places that can work for any type of portrait photography in San Diego that you are interested in doing. Also, I am open to new locations if you have something in mind. As for time, that is up to you and your busy schedule but typically I would prefer to shoot at sunset, sunrise, or midday. Those times just make for a better quality portrait. However, if you are not able to make those time slots, then we can schedule a time that fits into your schedule. And do not worry, I work with off camera flash so whatever time during the day you want to shoot will work for me. I just wanted you to know what times are the best for portraits.
All right, so if you are confused on where you should start, then let me help you with some advice. First, make sure not to wear the same clothes to the session that you plan on taking photos in because they will most likely be wrinkled. I mean if it is possible to avoid wearing them before the session, the better. Also, if you need to change while we are at the location, then I do have a changing tent you can use if there is no place to change. Second, I also like to tell my clients to have those clothes dry cleaned or at least pressed before the shot. Makes for a much cleaner photo. Third, I like to tell people to select what you will be wearing based on the type of portrait you are going for, professional or artistic.

We can then discuss what colors to wear based on the location you selected for the session or the mood you are looking for in your photos. A good piece of advise, select clothes with colors that match your skin tone or your eyes for a professional shoot. However, for artistic portraits, the sky is the limit because it all depends on what you want to go for in that type of portrait. Either way, I am here to help you each step of the way.

I do not provide a hairstylist or makeup artist for my sessions

This can be a tricky topic to cover. I say that because I am a guy, who does not wear makeup, and I only really need to focus on my hair. However, I can provide some insight on what to do before the big photo day. First, I would recommend to all the ladies/gentlemen to go to their hairstylist or barber to get a fresh cut a day before or at least a few days before your photography session. This will ensure that you look your best. Also, guys need to shave prior to the session, I mean if you want to look your best. You should also not apply any hair product that contains gel or any reflective substance. This will just case issues with the way the light reflects in the photo.

As for makeup, I am not an expert in this but I will break down what I know so you do not make any mistakes before your big day. You’re make up should be heavy/full coverage and natural looking, more than on an average day. Make sure to apply makeup that does not contain any reflective material, like SPF, because it will make your skin look pale. I do shoot with flash so wearing this type of makeup will ruin your photo. Please make sure not to apply makeup that contains SPF or any type highlighter/reflective makeup. Avoid using powder makeup and never use a base that contains a moisturizer or SPF as the base because it will reflect unintended light. Finally, make sure the makeup looks natural.

Reach Out If You Have Any Questions

I say that because I like to go over any questions or concerns with my clients before they get their photos taken by yours truly. Just remember as your friendly neighborhood San Diego photographer, I am only a phone call, text, and/or email away. All you need to do is reach out with your questions and I will be there to answer them. Because in the end I would rather you feel comfortable and confident so your inner beauty shines through in your portraits.
